The fishtail plait is a brilliant, easy to create look and works well for day or evening. The style has been rocked by many celebrities this autumn and has been a hit on the catwalk and has even been popular for bridal hair. We are sure you’ve been twisting and winding our tresses in the blind hope of copying it so here’s how to:

• Split the hair into two even sections and take each section in to a hand

• Take a small section of hair from the outside of one of the two sections and pass it over adding it to the opposing section.

• Keep repeating this process alternating from one side to the other whilst keeping the sections in both hands.

• Keep repeating the pattern until you run out of hair and secure with a clear elastic band.

• You can adjust the plait by taking smaller sections of hair which will create a more intricate look, to create a looser, messy plait use larger sections of hair.

High volume hair is set to be big for this winter and has been a hit with celebrities and huge on the red carpet.

Harri talks us through how to achieve this fabulous yet timeless.

• Harri preps the hair using the Matrix Amplify Shampoo and conditioner; this will add volume to the hair. Harri advises using the same products throughout styling as they then work how they are designed to- together.

• Towel dry the hair and apply Matrix Root Lifter to the roots which will give the hair a boost from the roots as it thickens without weight for a fuller look.

• Harri’s tip is to first blast your hair with the dryer upside down, the hair is then being blasted in the opposite direction which adds volume.

• The trick is to blow dry the hair in sections starting underneath.

• Using a soft bristle brush blow dry the hair in an upwards position, taking the heat from root to tip.

• So save flattening the style Harri suggests not using straightner’s after you have blown dry your hair as this will ruin the volumised look.

• Finish off the look by using a volumising hairspray with a flexible hold, Harri uses the Matris Amplify range hairspray as it is a light spray with maximum hold.
